Hormones – The “Low T” Identity Crisis

This is part five of my Virgo Season Detox series — a 6-part journey to expose the shadows of Virgo energy (control, perfectionism, false fixes) and release them into Pisces wisdom (surrender, wholeness, and light). Yes, we’ve just stepped into Libra season, but the eclipses tied to the South Node in Virgo mean we’ll be feeling, releasing, and shifting in these Virgo themes for the next six months. In part one, we looked at “smart glasses.” In part two, weight-loss injections. In part three, the ADHD label. In part four, we dove into drugs and the illusions they mask. Today, we’re shifting to another obsession: hormones, and what the craze around “low T” and testosterone might actually be revealing.

The Virgo South Node shows us how fixated we can become on lab values, measurements, and trying to “optimize” every detail of the body. The Pisces North Node calls us to remember that health isn’t numbers on a chart — it’s alignment of spirit, body, and purpose. Which is why the testosterone craze says more about identity than it does about chemistry.

Yes, hormones naturally shift with age. That’s biology. But somewhere along the way, “low T” stopped being a medical condition and started being marketed as an existential crisis. The ads scream: you’re less of a man if your testosterone dips. You’re irrelevant. You’re weak. You’re invisible. And so the industry swoops in with the promise: inject this, and you’ll get your power back.

But here’s the truth: power doesn’t live in a syringe. It lives in who you are when your roles, titles, and youthful skin are stripped away. Hormone injections might temporarily boost energy or physique — but they don’t touch the deeper ache of identity. They don’t address the fear of aging, the grief of change, or the resistance to stepping into a new phase of life.

The fixation on testosterone is often a mirror of something bigger: men (and women too, in different ways) being asked to redefine worth, power, and purpose beyond the physical. When we refuse to face that, we chase youth in a vial instead of expanding into soul maturity.

So let me ask you: what are you really trying to replace? Hormones, or your sense of identity? Energy, or meaning? Muscle mass, or purpose?

Virgo wants to measure and fix. Pisces wants to dissolve and expand. This eclipse season is asking us to let go of the obsession with numbers and formulas, and to remember: your value is not measured in hormones.

This was part five of Virgo Season Detox. In the final post, we’ll look at another rising craze — ketamine therapy. Is it the miracle it’s being sold as, or just another escape hatch dressed up in medical clothing?

I’m grateful you chose to spend a few moments here with me. If this sparked reflection, let me feel your presence — comment, tap the heart, or pass it on to someone you love. Together, we’re harvesting health at the root.

Under the sun of awakening,

Karen Di Gloria 🌱
